Why Evolution of God Matters

How we view the world determines how we live in it. Our worldview is the lens through which we see the world. The main reason for this web site is to offer a different world view, one that integrates science and faith through evolution. Because the worldview is based on the growing understanding of nature, it builds a solid foundation for hope, meaning and purpose in life which is lacking in faith alone. This worldview also acknowledges the power of faith, which to billions of people is a truth that science has only in recnt years begun to investigate.

In addition to providing a foundation for what I call "Amazing Grace," the integration of science and religion through evolution has the potential to do much more. This integration can lead to the reconciliation of religions and aid in our survival by giving us the insight to eliminate depression on the personal level and sustain our Earth's biosystems on the global level.

Amazing Grace: Many people find greater purpose, meaning and grace in the experience of an evolving God than in a static, unchanging God. For others, the theory of evolution has eroded their belief in God. It is my hope that those who have lost faith in God because of their ideas about evolution will re-examine the evidence and find that God does indeed exist, but operates in ways that, through science, we are just beginning to grasp. God exists and is more magnificent, powerful and loving than we can know. Empowered by the truth of evolution, we can enjoy the benefits of faith, trusting in a wise, loving and powerful God who protects and cares for us. (more)

Integrate Science and Religion: The chasm between science and religion has split some people's psyches, forcing them to compartmentalize their lives, or worse, forcing a choice between faith in science (evolution) or in God, but not both. Understanding that God evolves bridges the gap between science and religion, unifying the psyche. This unified way of knowing helps us better understand our role in the universe, thereby enhancing our enjoyment of life and increasing our likelihood of survival. (more)

Reconcile Religions: Just as evolution has produced a fabulous variety of animals, plants and other life forms, evolution has also produced many diverse religions and philosophies. (more)

Survival: How do we survive?  This ultimate problem faces every creature that has ever lived. With our advanced technology, we humans now have incredible power. We can either destroy all humans and the life support system which sustains us, or we can do something few can imagine: bring dignity and freedom to every man, woman and child on a sustainable Earth. Only by understanding where we came from can we know where we are going. (more)

Antidote to Depression: Depression afflicts millions of people. Loss of faith exacerbates depression. Reconnection to a higher spiritual power through the integration of evolution and spirituality can alleviate depression. (more)

Sustain the Earth: Many people believe that until we understand the Epic of Evolution and our place in this epic, we cannot recognize the importance of the biosphere, and the importance of saving it. (more)
